AI-assisted operations
Forecast issues earlier, and give the person on duty a next step — not another chart.
Four layers, each doing one job
From sensor data to a recommended action
ML — the brain
Reads high-frequency sensor data for patterns people miss — vibration anomalies, remaining-useful-life for a pump or compressor, and cooling-load forecasts from weather and footfall.
RAG — the library
Grounds advice in your own documents — OEM datasheets, maintenance logs and P&IDs — so guidance reflects your equipment and history, not a generic template.
LLM — the technician
Plain-language diagnosis that links the ML finding to the RAG evidence, and drafts a report management can read.
Tool calling — the hands
The bridge into your systems: adjust a setpoint, raise a ticket, or check spare stock before the technician arrives.
A worked example
ML reports high motor temperature on AHU-10. RAG finds that AHU-10 had a belt replacement last month. The model reasons that, since the belt is new, the high temperature is more likely over-tensioning than wear — and drafts that finding in plain language rather than raising a generic high-temperature alarm.
Traditional BMS compared with the AI layer
What changes when the AI layer is added
| Traditional BMS | With the AI layer |
|---|---|
| Reactive — alerts trigger after a threshold is crossed | Predictive — anomalies detected weeks before a threshold is hit |
| Static — fixed schedules and setpoints regardless of occupancy | Dynamic — real-time setpoint optimisation and peak shaving |
| Siloed — technicians search paper or PDF manuals | Integrated — instant access to OEM specifications in natural language |
| Manual logs typed up by technicians | Auto-logged summaries with energy-impact metrics |
| Human-dependent — a manager sees the alert and raises a ticket | Autonomous — the ticket and parts list are prepared automatically |
